About
Brooklyn Rising is an artistic activist movement that inspires and celebrates young women and men of Brooklyn in Solidarity with One Billion Rising, One Billion Rising Youth Revolution, and V-Day to
end violence against women and girls worldwide through activism and artistic expressions — dance,
double dutch, VOICES, spoken word, poems, monologues, performance arts and music created in
conjunction with talented and visionary young women and men in Brooklyn, USA.
One Billion Rising beginning on 7 February and continuing throughout the year, activists are RISING to
end violence against women and girls, and calling for a radical shift in consciousness to end the global epidemic of abuse that one in three women face worldwide. That’s ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS.
One Billion Rising Youth Revolution is an artistic political movement onto itself — determined and led by young women and girls — outspoken, courageous, unafraid, political, creative, tech savvy, current and forward thinking, bringing an exciting layer of One Billion Rising boldly into the future.
V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against all women (cisgender, transgender, and
those who hold fluid identities that are subject to gender-based violence), girls and the planet. V-Day believes that when art and activism come together, they have the power to transform systems and
change culture. V-Day is a movement and an example of how the power of art can be used as a
liberating tool for transformational holistic education and social justice.

VOICES WILL BE AN OFFERING TO OUR HIGHEST SELVES.

Our Vision
Young people are entrenched in the world of music and entertainment, arts, social media, fashion and sport; Hiphop is the culture of young people across the African Diaspora of America’s urban youth; Hip- hop has become more than just a music genre; it is a culture embraced by youth worldwide; it is their way of thinking, dressing, speaking, and behaving.
